Learn while having fun

Why It Matters

Children learn best when they are having fun. Through play they build confidence, strengthen language, practice problem-solving, develop creativity, and learn how to work with others. Everyday moments of play help prepare children for school and for life.

Simple Ways to Learn Through Play at Home

  • Read together for 10–15 minutes each day and ask open ended questions.

  • Create art with crayons, paint, recycled materials, or playdough.

  • Cook together by counting, measuring, and naming ingredients.

  • Play outside with walks, ball games, obstacle courses, or nature hunts.

  • Build with blocks or boxes to encourage creativity and problem solving.

  • Pretend play with dolls, dress-up, or toy kitchens to build imagination and communication.

  • Sing songs, dance, and enjoy music together.

  • Talk about feelings and encourage your child to express emotions.

Questions That Spark Thinking

  • What do you think will happen next?

  • How did you come up with that idea?

  • What could we try differently?

  • Can you tell me about what you made?

  • What was your favorite part and why?

At Rise and Shine Childcare, we believe children grow best when learning is meaningful, joyful, and filled with love, curiosity, and encouragement.
